Alan J. Azevedo, M.D.

Dr. Azevedo graduated from the University of Notre Dame where he received a Bachelor of Science degree. He then attended Loyola Stritch School of Medicine, earning his Doctorate of Medicine. Following a surgical internship at St. Mary's Hospital in San Francisco, he completed an orthopedic surgical residency at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. Seeking further expertise, Dr. Azevedo completed a Fellowship in Adult Reconstructive Surgery at the Mayo Clinic.

Dr. Azevedo is board certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. He is an active member of American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery, California Orthopedic Association, Western Orthopedic Association, as well as the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine.

Dr. Azevedo has served as the team physician for all CSU Chico intercollegiate athletics since 1985 and continues to support and treat student and recreational athletes of all ages. As a member of the Butte-Glenn Medical Society, Dr. Azevedo ensures that high school sports in Chico benefit from quality medical coverage each year by securing volunteer physicians to perform high school sports physicals and provide physician coverage for all home football games.

Dr. Azevedo has a general orthopedic practice that encompasses nonsurgical and surgical treatment of injuries, arthroscopic surgery, reconstructive surgery including minimally invasive total joint replacement, and fracture care.
